DIY Pizza

Pizza is a classic family sharing meal with lots of licking of fingers in our house.  The trouble is the shop bought ones can have cardboard type bases and you're never sure what some of the toppings really are hidden under the plastic wrapper and plastic cheese. I think food should be both fun and and healthy at the same time.  When the kids were younger we would have pizza parties where I made the dough and gave them a ball of dough each which they rolled out and smothered with toppings of their choice and I put them in and out of the oven.  Some of the selections would never be found in Pizza Hut!  An even quicker trick is to use pitta breads as a bread base.

Tonight my daughter and I are eating one big pizza as Hubby is still hitting a little white ball around a field somewhere in Cornwall.  She will have her topping selection in one half and mine in the other.  Heaven forbid if one of my anchovy fillets strays into her half!

Ingredients
1 packet of bread mix and follow the instructions on the pack and then roll out into the shape or shapes you want.
Or use a pack of pitta bread as the bread base if you are in express mode.
Toppings of your choice but as a minimum:
Tomato puree or drained chopped tinned tomatoes
Grated cheese, I use cheddar or mozzarella.

Cook at 180C until the base is crisp and the cheese bubbling.
Serve with some salad.

Other ideas
Sliced mushrooms, Sweetcorn, Olives, Anchovy fillets, Capers, Bacon, Ham, Chorizo, Pepperoni, Sliced tomatoes, Peppers, Chilli or chilli oil, Garlic, Spinach leaves, Basil and Asparagus.
The list is endless ............. just use what you have to hand.

Bellissimo!
